CCBA has a Board of Directors made up of men and women with diverse backgrounds from a variety of occupations. It provides office space in its building for the Chinese Center, which performs social services to the community, and it provides a place where the Chinese Senior Citizen's Center can meet and have luncheons.

A San Diego Historical Site

The building site at 426-28 Third Avenue has an association with the Chinese community going back to the early days of Chinatown. In 1883 the land and structures were removed and a Taoist temple was built.

CCBA’s American Origins

The earliest social organizations of Chinese immigrants in America had their origins in the 1850s in San Francisco. They were created to accommodate the needs of the immigrants, mostly men, in a strange and sometimes hostile environment. The first associations were based on areas of origin, the villages and the districts.
